A MINISTRY OF HIGH SIERRA FELLOWSHIP

GARDNERVILLE, NEVADA

TRAINING MANUAL

“Success in witnessing is simply sharing Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.”

― Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ

But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,  but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,  having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF EACH LESSON

  1. REVIEW THIS INTRODUCTION from time to time as you make your way through the manual. Just as you’re reading it now before beginning Part One of the manual (“The Holy Spirit and the Gospel”), a good time to review the Introduction might be before beginning Part Two  and before Part Three. You might also benefit from reviewing it any time that you’ve been away from your study for several days.
  2. SET A REALISTIC SCHEDULE TO STUDY REGULARLY:                                                          Look first at your existing schedule and occasional obligations.                                                    Make a plan that includes studying specific days of the week, specific times of the day, and a specific length for each session.  2 days a week for an hour? 5 days a week for 30 minutes? What days? When during the day?                                                                                                         Stay positive when your schedule doesn’t work! Don’t scold yourself: identify the problem, make adjustment as needed, praise the Lord and carry on!
  3.  BEGIN EACH STUDY TIME WITH PRAYER  Commit the time to the Lord. Praise Him for what he’s doing in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten your understanding.
  4. EXPECT TO LEARN: FOCUS as you study the manual and view the videos; make time to PRACTICE the activities with a friend; make time to GO into the field to sow seeds.
  5. REVIEW PREVIOUS LESSONS FOR IMPROVEMENT

TWO NOTES ON BIBLE VERSES CITED

  1. Unless indicated otherwise, all Bible verses throughout the manual are from the English Standard Version (ESV). Other translations occasionally used include the New International Version (NIV), The King James Version (KJV), The New King James Version (NKJV), and the Amplified Bible (AMP).
  2. All Bible verses appear throughout the manual in italic print; thus verses are not put into quotation marks (“…”) unless they are part of a diagogue. Words of Jesus appear in red italics regardless of translation.
